The DAYTON LAMINA 5-0824-82 is a press-fit ball bearing guide post designed for use in progressive and compound die sets. Manufactured from hardened steel, this post provides the precise alignment and wear resistance required in high-cycle stamping and metal fabrication tooling. With a 1 inch outside diameter and 6 inch overall length, it installs directly into the die shoe using an interference fit, eliminating the need for fasteners at the post body. The 5/16-18 thread accommodates standard retention hardware. Licensed tool and die makers and machinist-level technicians are the typical installers.
This guide post is suited for press tool applications in both job shop and production environments. It fits into die sets requiring a 1 inch bore in the lower shoe and is compatible with standard ball bearing guide bushings of matching diameter. The press-fit attachment method ensures concentricity during assembly and prevents post movement under lateral loading during the press stroke.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation guide post for die sets requiring a 1 inch press-fit ball bearing post with 6 inch overall length and hardened steel construction.
Installation is performed by tool and die makers or qualified machinists. The receiving bore in the die shoe must be finish-reamed to the correct interference fit tolerance before pressing the post in place. Use an arbor press and appropriate fixtures to drive the post squarely into the bore without cocking. Never drive the post with impact tools, as this can damage the bearing surface or distort the post body.
