The D-Link Systems DGS-1210-10P is an 8-port Gigabit PoE+ smart managed switch designed for small-to-medium network deployments in commercial and light industrial environments. It delivers Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) across all eight RJ-45 Gigabit ports, with a total PoE power budget of 65 watts. Two dedicated SFP uplink slots allow fiber or additional Gigabit copper connections for uplink aggregation or inter-switch links. The smart managed feature set gives network technicians Layer 2 management capabilities, including VLAN configuration and traffic prioritization, without the complexity of a full enterprise-class managed switch.
This switch is suited for commercial office environments, light industrial network closets, and facilities requiring centralized PoE device deployment. Typical applications include powering and connecting IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other 802.3at-compatible endpoints. The two SFP ports support uplink connections to a core or distribution switch, making this unit appropriate as an access-layer switch in a tiered network topology. Licensed network technicians and IT infrastructure professionals are the primary installers.
Designed as an OEM-style smart managed access switch compatible with 802.3af and 802.3at PoE-enabled endpoint devices on standard Gigabit Ethernet networks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified network technician or licensed electrician familiar with structured cabling standards and PoE power budgeting. Verify that the total PoE draw of all connected devices does not exceed the 65-watt budget before deployment. Mount the unit in a ventilated rack or on a stable surface per facility standards, and ensure the power source meets the input requirements listed on the unit label. Follow all applicable local electrical codes when routing and terminating cabling.
