The CRESCENT CDDS28N is a 6-point deep hand socket designed for professional hand-tool use in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade applications. It accepts a 3/8 inch drive and fits a 9/16 inch SAE fastener. The deep well design provides an overall length of 2.5 inches, giving technicians the reach needed to engage recessed or stud-mounted fasteners that standard-depth sockets cannot seat on. Constructed from alloy steel with a nickel chrome plated finish, the CDDS28N resists corrosion and surface wear under regular shop and field use. The 6-point contact geometry reduces the risk of rounding fastener flats compared to 12-point designs, making it well suited for high-torque hand applications.
This socket is used across residential and commercial service work wherever 9/16 inch SAE fasteners appear on equipment panels, motor mounts, pipe brackets, electrical enclosures, or structural hardware. The deep well configuration is especially practical when clearing bolt shank threads or working in confined spaces with limited socket clearance. It is tether capable, supporting tool tethering programs required on elevated work platforms or in environments with dropped-tool hazards. Designed as a standard SAE deep hand socket for use with any 3/8 inch drive ratchet, breaker bar, or torque wrench. Compatible with 3/8 inch drive extensions and universal joints following ASME B107.1-2002 specifications.
Install and remove by a qualified technician using a calibrated torque wrench when fastener torque specifications are required. Ensure the socket is fully seated on the fastener before applying torque to avoid slippage or fastener damage. Do not use with impact drivers unless the socket is rated for impact use. Inspect the socket for cracks or worn drive tangs before each use and remove from service if damage is found.
