The CRATEX 616 C is a silicon carbide surface grinding wheel designed for material finishing, surface prep, and deburring work across a range of trade applications. Measuring 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick with a 1/2 inch arbor hole, it uses a rubber bond matrix that cushions the abrasive grain during contact, allowing it to conform slightly to the workpiece surface. The coarse grade abrasive cuts aggressively, making this wheel suited for stock removal and surface cleanup tasks. Rated to 3600 RPM, it is compatible with standard bench grinders and surface grinding equipment sized for a 6 inch wheel.
This wheel is applied across metalworking and light fabrication environments where surface condition matters. Common operations include removing rust, heat marks, and tarnish from metal surfaces, eliminating excess solder from assemblies, smoothing rough edges, deburring cut parts, and preparing surfaces prior to coating or polishing. The rubber bond construction makes it particularly effective on corrosion-affected surfaces and on tasks that require a degree of surface conformance rather than a rigid abrasive action. It is used by machinists, pipefitters, HVAC fabricators, and general trade technicians who perform in-shop or bench metalwork.
Designed for use in corrosion removal, deburring, excess solder removal, heat mark removal, polishing operations, rust removal, scratch removal, smoothing, and tarnish removal applications on bench or surface grinding equipment accepting a 6 inch diameter, 1/2 inch arbor wheel rated to 3600 RPM.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician following the grinder manufacturer's mounting instructions and applicable ANSI B7.1 safe use guidelines for abrasive wheels. Always de-energize and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing a wheel. Verify the machine's maximum operating RPM does not exceed the wheel's 3600 RPM rating before use. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use and stand clear during the initial run-up period.
