The CRATEX 608 C is a 6-inch diameter surface grinding wheel designed for precision deburring, polishing, and surface finishing across a range of metalworking and fabrication applications. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive and a rubber bond matrix, this wheel delivers controlled stock removal with a degree of flexibility that rigid vitrified wheels cannot provide. At 1/2 inch thick with a 1/2 inch arbor hole, it mounts to standard bench grinders and surface grinding setups. Rated at 3,600 RPM maximum, it is suited for lower-speed grinder configurations. The coarse grade cuts aggressively on tough surface conditions including rust, heat marks, and excess solder.
This wheel is intended for use by machinists, fabricators, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working on metal surfaces that require controlled finishing rather than heavy stock removal. Typical applications include corrosion removal, deburring sharp edges, eliminating heat marks and tarnish, removing excess solder, and smoothing scratched or marred surfaces. The rubber bond construction allows the wheel to conform slightly to irregular workpiece geometry, making it useful in polishing and light blending operations where a hard wheel would leave uneven results. The green color is standard for CRATEX rubber-bonded silicon carbide wheels.
Suited for use in corrosion removal, deburring, excess solder removal, heat mark removal, polishing operations, rust removal, scratch removal, smoothing, and tarnish removal applications. Designed as a replacement or replenishment surface grinding wheel for setups requiring a 6-inch diameter, 1/2-inch thick, 1/2-inch arbor hole wheel at or below 3,600 RPM.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool operator following ANSI B7.1 safe-use guidelines for abrasive wheels. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and perform a ring test prior to use. Power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Never exceed the 3,600 RPM maximum speed rating marked for this wheel.
