The CRATEX 5 C is a small-diameter surface grinding wheel designed for precision deburring, cleaning, and polishing work on metal and other hard surfaces. Built with a silicon carbide abrasive grain and a rubber bond matrix, this wheel delivers controlled, consistent material removal with a degree of flexibility not found in vitrified or resinoid wheels. At 1 inch in diameter and 1/8 inch thick, it is suited for detail work in tight spaces. The rubber bond also acts as a mild cushion during contact, reducing chatter and helping produce a finer surface finish. Rated at 25000 RPM, it is compatible with high-speed rotary tools and die grinders used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
This wheel is intended for light grinding, surface conditioning, cleaning, and polishing applications. Its compact 1 inch diameter makes it a practical choice for work on small parts, weld cleanup, scale removal, and surface prep in areas where a full-size grinding wheel cannot reach. The coarse grade removes material efficiently while the rubber bond helps the wheel conform slightly to irregular surfaces. Typical use cases include shop maintenance, precision part finishing, and light deburring in metalworking environments. The green color is standard for this silicon carbide rubber-bond product line.
Designed for use with high-speed rotary tools, die grinders, and similar equipment rated for wheels up to 25000 RPM with a 1/16 inch arbor hole. Suitable for cleaning and polishing applications as noted in the product attributes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Before mounting, verify that the spindle speed of the host tool does not exceed the 25000 RPM maximum rating of the wheel. Mount the wheel securely on a compatible mandrel sized for the 1/16 inch hole and confirm there is no wobble before applying the wheel to a workpiece. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 or OSHA grinding safety guidelines during operation.
