The CRATEX 1848 C is a rubberized abrasive point in a taper shape, designed for precision deburring, blending, and surface finishing on metal and other hard materials. It measures 1 inch maximum diameter by 2 inches in length and is made from silicon carbide abrasive bonded in a rubberized matrix. The coarse grade with a 60-grit rating cuts aggressively while the flexible rubber bond cushions the contact surface, reducing chatter and gouging. This unmounted point accepts a 1/4-inch arbor and is installed directly onto a compatible mandrel before use. It is a standard choice for tool-and-die, maintenance, and fabrication work requiring controlled, hand-held abrasive finishing.
This abrasive point is suited for grinding, deburring, and light stock removal on interior bores, contoured surfaces, and hard-to-reach areas. The taper profile allows access to angled recesses and chamfered edges. Typical applications include finishing weld zones, cleaning up casting flash, and preparing metal surfaces prior to inspection or assembly. It is commonly used in metalworking shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where a die grinder or rotary tool is the primary driver.
Designed for use with standard 1/4-inch arbor mandrels on die grinders, rotary tools, and flexible shaft machines rated for unmounted abrasive points up to 20000 RPM.
Installation is performed by a machinist, toolmaker, or maintenance technician using a compatible 1/4-inch arbor mandrel secured in a die grinder or rotary tool. Confirm the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 20000 RPM rating of this point before operation. Inspect the abrasive point for cracks or damage before each use and discard if any defects are found. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable shop safety procedures when operating rotary abrasive tooling.
