The COOPER CROUSE-HINDS TP7927 is a photo control sensor designed to automatically switch lighting circuits based on ambient light levels. It detects daylight and dusk conditions to enable hands-free on/off control of connected luminaires. This type of device is a standard component in outdoor and commercial lighting systems, eliminating the need for manual switching. Electricians and lighting contractors install photo controls as part of new construction or retrofit projects where automated dusk-to-dawn operation is required.
The TP7927 is suited for use in outdoor lighting applications including parking lot fixtures, area lights, street lights, and building perimeter illumination. It is typically mounted directly to a fixture or junction point where it can sample unobstructed ambient light. The unit is packaged individually and is appropriate for both single-unit replacement work and multi-unit service calls.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement photo control sensor for outdoor and commercial lighting fixtures requiring automatic ambient-light switching.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Disconnect and lock out all power to the lighting circuit before removing the existing photo control or making any wiring connections. Position the sensor where it will receive unobstructed exposure to natural ambient light to ensure accurate dusk and dawn detection. Do not install in locations where artificial light sources may interfere with the sensor field of view.
