The COOPER CROUSE-HINDS TP7142 is a two-gang square aluminum outlet box built for electrical installations that require a weather-resistant enclosure. Constructed from aluminum with a gray powder-paint finish, the box measures 4-1/2 inches high by 4-1/2 inches wide by 2-21/32 inches deep and weighs 1.13 pounds. It features seven 1-inch knockouts for flexible conduit entry configurations. The TP7142 carries cUL Listing to CSA-C22.2 No 18.1-04 and is UL Listed under File E15022 to UL 514A, making it suitable for installations requiring code-documented compliance. Licensed electricians are the primary installers of this box in both new construction and retrofit work.
The TP7142 is well suited for commercial and industrial wiring applications where a durable, corrosion-resistant outlet box is needed. Its two-gang configuration accommodates a pair of wiring devices side by side, and the seven available knockout positions support a variety of rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit entry arrangements. The weather-resistant rating makes it appropriate for covered outdoor locations, wet-area industrial environments, and other installations subject to moisture exposure where a standard steel box would be inadequate.
Designed as an OEM-style outlet box compatible with standard two-gang cover plates and wiring devices sized for 4-1/2-inch square boxes with 1-inch knockout trade size conduit entries.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the panel and verify absence of voltage before beginning work. Knock out only the entries required for conduit runs; unused openings must be closed with listed fillers or conduit fittings. Ensure all conduit connections are properly bonded to maintain the equipment grounding path.
