The COOPER BUSSMANN S505-2-R is a ceramic cartridge time delay fuse rated at 2 amps, designed for overcurrent protection in low-voltage control circuits and electronic equipment. The time delay characteristic allows brief inrush currents to pass without nuisance tripping while still protecting downstream components from sustained fault conditions. The ceramic body provides superior heat resistance compared to glass tube alternatives, making it well suited for applications where repeated fault cycles or elevated ambient temperatures are a concern. Electricians and electronics technicians install this fuse type during service and replacement of control boards, instrumentation panels, and small appliance circuits.
This fuse fits mini cartridge fuse holders and clips designed for the 5 mm diameter, 20 mm overall length form factor, commonly referred to as the 5x20 mm international standard size. It is used in residential and light commercial control circuits, HVAC equipment control boards, laboratory instruments, and consumer electronics requiring IEC 60127-2 compliant overcurrent protection. The time delay rating makes it appropriate for circuits with motor loads or transformer primaries where startup inrush must be tolerated.
Designed as a direct replacement for 5x20 mm time delay mini cartridge fuse positions in equipment requiring IEC 60127-2 compliant fusing at 2 amps.
Installation and replacement of fuses in energized equipment must be performed by a qualified electrician following applicable NEC requirements and equipment manufacturer lockout/tagout procedures. Always de-energize and verify the circuit is safe before removing or inserting a fuse. Confirm the replacement fuse matches the original amperage, voltage rating, time delay characteristic, and physical dimensions before installation. Do not substitute a standard fast-acting fuse in a position requiring a time delay rating.
