The COOPER BUSSMANN JKS-80 is a Class J fast-acting cartridge fuse rated at 80 amps and 600 volts with an interrupt capacity of 200 kA (RMS). It is designed for general-purpose overcurrent protection in industrial and commercial electrical systems. The cartridge body measures 28.6 mm in diameter and 4-5/8 inches in overall length, with a bolt-on mount that provides secure, low-resistance termination. Electricians and maintenance technicians install this fuse in fused disconnect switches, motor control panels, and distribution equipment where Class J dimensions and high fault-current ratings are required.
The JKS-80 is suited for use in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical panels and motor branch circuits where Class J fusing is specified. Its fast-acting response provides tight overcurrent protection for sensitive loads, including motors, transformers, and electronic equipment. Applications include fused disconnects, combination starters, and panelboard feeders requiring a 600-volt, 80-amp Class J fuse in a bolt-on format.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for Class J bolt-on cartridge fuse positions rated 80 amps at 600 volts in industrial disconnects, motor control centers, and commercial distribution equipment.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing the fuse. Verify that the fuse holder and disconnect are rated for Class J fuses and confirm that the replacement amperage and voltage match the circuit requirements before closing the panel.
