The COOPER BUSSMANN FNQ-R-8 is a Class CC time delay cartridge fuse rated at 8 amps for general purpose overcurrent protection in low-voltage electrical circuits. Measuring 1.5 inches in overall length and 10.3 mm in diameter, this rejection-style fuse is sized and keyed to fit only Class CC fuse holders, preventing accidental substitution with non-rejection fuses. The time delay characteristic allows brief inrush currents from motor loads and capacitive circuits to pass without nuisance tripping while still providing fast, reliable protection under sustained overload or fault conditions. Licensed electricians and controls technicians are the primary installers in commercial, industrial, and HVAC control panel applications.
The FNQ-R-8 is suited for use in Class CC fuse holders found in motor control centers, HVAC control circuits, lighting circuits, and small appliance branch circuits. The 8-amp rating and time delay action make it a common choice for protecting transformer secondaries and control circuit wiring in both residential and light commercial equipment. Its compact cartridge form factor fits standard 30-amp Class CC fusible disconnect blocks and inline fuse holders.
Designed for use in Class CC fuse holders and fusible disconnect blocks rated for 1.5-inch cartridge fuses. The rejection feature ensures this fuse installs only in holders designed for the CC class, consistent with UL 248-4 requirements.
Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Always de-energize and lock out the circuit before removing or installing a fuse. Use an insulated fuse puller rated for the voltage class of the circuit. Verify that the replacement fuse amperage, class, and interrupting rating match the circuit requirements before energizing.
