The COLLIS TOOL 78910 is a tapping adapter set designed to hold and drive taps in a wide range of sizes during machining operations. The set accommodates tap sizes from 0 through 9/16 inches, covering machine screw tap sizes 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 as well as fractional sizes 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16 inch. Shank diameter compatibility spans 0.141 to 0.313 inches across the set, with individual collet sizes including 0.141, 0.168, 0.194, 0.220, 0.255, 0.313, 0.318, 0.323, 0.367, 0.381, 0.429, and 0.437 inches. The adapter depth range is 0.85 to 1.05 inches. It features a quick-change design and through-coolant capability, making it suited for production tapping applications on CNC machining centers.
This tapping adapter set is used in machine shops and manufacturing environments where a variety of tap sizes must be run efficiently on a single machine setup. The quick-change feature reduces tool changeover time during production runs. Through-coolant support allows coolant to be delivered directly to the cutting zone, which is beneficial when tapping harder materials or working at higher feed rates. One adapter is included in the set. Typical applications include threading operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both job shop and production environments.
Designed as a tapping adapter set for use with CNC machining centers and tapping machines that accept quick-change tooling with the corresponding shank and flange specifications listed above.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the adapter. Verify that the selected collet matches the tap shank diameter before securing. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for torque and retention when seating the adapter in the spindle interface.
