The COLLIS TOOL 72506 is an MT2 outside Morse taper center drill driver designed to hold and drive center drills in lathe and milling applications. This driver accepts 6 and 16 inch center drills with a 1/2 inch body diameter and features a 1/4 inch projection. The MT2 taper shank seats directly into compatible machine spindles, providing a rigid, self-holding connection without the need for a drawbar in most setups. Machinists and tool room technicians install this driver when centering work on a lathe or preparing stock for between-centers turning operations. The unit weighs 0.25 pounds and ships as a single piece.
This center drill driver is suited for use in manual lathes, turret lathes, and milling machines equipped with an MT2 spindle bore. It is used in both production shop and toolroom environments where accurate center drilling is required before turning or grinding operations. The 1/2 inch center drill body diameter and 1/4 inch projection dimensions make it compatible with standard combination drill and countersink tooling in the sizes noted.
Designed as an OEM-style center drill driver for use in machine tool spindles with an MT2 inside Morse taper bore.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the driver. Clean both the MT2 shank and the spindle bore thoroughly before insertion to ensure full taper contact and prevent fretting. Do not strike the shank with a steel hammer during removal - use a soft drift or the machine drift slot to avoid damage to the taper surfaces.
