The COLLIS TOOL 72285 is a Letter H morse taper drill driver designed to mount tooling with an MT2 outside taper shank into compatible drill press spindles, milling machines, and lathes. It accommodates a drill tang thickness of 0.158 to 0.162 inches and provides a 1/4-inch projection, positioning the cutting edge at the correct working depth. The nominal drill size is 0.266 inches (Letter H). This driver is used by machinists and tool-room technicians to seat taper-shank tooling securely without slipping under rotational load.
This drill driver is suited for metal-cutting operations in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where MT2-shank tooling is standard. It is appropriate for use in drill presses, knee mills, and manual lathes with an MT2 spindle bore. The 1-inch drill depth rating makes it a practical choice for general-purpose hole-making with Letter H diameter tooling where precise size is required.
Designed for use with MT2 spindle bores that accept a drill tang. Compatible with standard Letter H taper-shank tooling having a tang thickness of 0.158 to 0.162 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. The taper shank should be cleaned of oil, chips, and debris before seating to ensure full contact and prevent slippage. The tang must engage the drift slot in the spindle to prevent rotation. Use a proper taper drift to remove the driver from the spindle; never strike the tooling directly with a hammer.
