The COLLIS TOOL 70093 is an NMTB40 quick change master holder designed for use with the Rapid Switch 300 quick change tooling system. It mounts to the machine spindle and serves as the base unit that accepts interchangeable tool holders, allowing rapid tool changes without removing the master holder from the spindle. Key specifications include a nose diameter of 3.0 inches (76.2 mm) and a projection of 2.91 inches. This holder is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC mills, manual mills, and machining centers equipped with NMTB40 spindle tapers.
This master holder is suited for production and job-shop machining environments where minimizing tool change time is a priority. The Rapid Switch 300 system allows the operator to swap cutting tool holders at the spindle face without disturbing the master holder seating or requiring re-indication. Typical applications include milling operations on vertical machining centers and knee mills with NMTB40 spindle configurations. It is appropriate for both light and moderate-duty cutting operations where repeatable tool positioning is required.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle drive before seating or removing the master holder. Ensure the spindle taper and holder shank are clean and free of chips or debris before installation, as contamination will affect seating accuracy and runout. Follow the machine tool manufacturer's drawbar torque procedure for NMTB40 tooling.
