The COLLIS TOOL 60225 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT5 outside taper to an MT2 inside taper. It allows a smaller-shank tool to be seated and driven in a larger-taper spindle or tailstock. The sleeve is hardened and ground throughout for dimensional accuracy and long service life. At 6-1/8 inches overall length with a 1/4 inch projection, this sleeve fits standard machining applications where taper size conversion is required. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and machine shop personnel are the primary installers and users of this component.
This reducing sleeve is used in machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and boring machines where the spindle taper is MT5 and the tooling shank is MT2. It is suited for both production shop and toolroom environments. The hardened and ground construction ensures consistent seating and minimizes runout, making it appropriate for drilling, reaming, and light boring operations where taper tool retention is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style reducing sleeve for machine tool spindles and tailstocks with an MT5 internal taper requiring MT2-shank tooling adaptation.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the spindle or tailstock bore and the sleeve exterior are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the sleeve. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the sleeve. Use a proper drift bar and soft mallet to remove the sleeve through the drift slot - never strike the taper directly.
