The COLLIS TOOL 60212 is a standard Morse taper reducing sleeve designed to adapt an MT1 inside taper to an MT2 outside taper. This sleeve allows a machine spindle with an MT2 bore to accept tooling with an MT1 shank, making it a common workholding accessory used in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and similar equipment. The 60212 is hardened and ground throughout for dimensional accuracy and long service life. Overall length is 3-9/16 inches with a 5/8-inch projection. The part weighs 0.16 pounds. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers.
This reducing sleeve is suited for machine shop environments where tool shanks and spindle bores do not share the same Morse taper number. Typical applications include adapting drill bits, end mills, reamers, or other MT1-shank tooling into an MT2 spindle. The hardened and ground construction holds tight tolerances under repeated insertion and removal cycles, making it appropriate for production and jobbing shop use alike.
Designed as a standard OEM-style reducing sleeve for machine spindles with an MT2 bore requiring MT1-shank tooling. Confirm taper sizes on both the spindle and tool shank before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or qualified machine tool operators. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing any taper sleeve. Ensure the sleeve bore and spindle taper are clean and free of chips or oil before seating. Remove the sleeve using the appropriate drift and drift slot to avoid damage to the sleeve or spindle bore.
