Shut down and bleed all air pressure from the pneumatic line before removing or installing any coupler. Apply thread sealant tape or paste rated for compressed-air service to the FNPT threads before assembly. Tighten to snug plus a turn — do not overtighten brass fittings, as the material is susceptible to thread damage under excess torque. Pneumatic fitting work in commercial facilities may be subject to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.169 compressed-air system requirements; verify compliance before placing the system back in service.
