The CLEVELAND C73453 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for precise drilling in metal, aluminum, and general-purpose applications. Manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a wire gauge size of 25, equivalent to 0.1495 inches decimal diameter. The bit features a 118-degree split point for accurate starting without a center punch, a regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation, and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust during entry. Overall length is 3 inches with a 1.875-inch flute length. This bit is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tradespeople using standard drill presses, hand drills, or CNC equipment.
The C73453 is well-suited for light-gauge aluminum fabrication, sheet metal work, and production drilling where wire-gauge sizing is specified. The straight-cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement across a wide range of drill press and handheld equipment. With a heavy-duty grade and conformance to NAS 907 Type A standards, this bit is appropriate for both job-site and shop environments where repeatable hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required. It is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 12.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers accepting a 0.1495-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility listed as aluminum, with general suitability for light ferrous and non-ferrous metals per NAS 907 Type A classification.
Installation is performed by machinists or tradespeople using standard drill equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to powering the spindle. For aluminum work, use an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged point can cause oversized or off-center holes.
