The CLEVELAND C72103 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastics. Built from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a standard 118-degree split-point angle and a web-thinned tip that reduces walking on entry. The two-flute spiral design evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations. At 3.750 inches overall length with a 2.500-inch flute, this bit fits standard three-jaw drill chucks and is sized to wire gauge number 3, equal to 0.2130 inches in decimal. It is suited for production shops, maintenance trades, and field service work where a reliable general-purpose drill is needed without specialty coatings.
The C72103 is applied in light to medium drilling operations on mild steel, aluminum, brass, thermoplastics, and wood composites. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling spindles. Its 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral pitch make it a practical choice for short-run production work, MRO applications, and general fabrication where precise hole sizing in the 0.2000-inch to 0.2500-inch range is required. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill use.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit fitting any standard drill chuck that accepts a 0.2130-inch straight cylindrical shank, including hand drills, drill presses, and compatible CNC drilling spindles.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for steel workpieces to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Reduce feed pressure as the point breaks through to avoid grabbing or deflection. Inspect the cutting edges for wear regularly; a dull drill generates excess heat and produces oversized or out-of-round holes.
