The CLEVELAND C71220 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. It measures 2 mm in diameter (0.0787 inches) with an overall length of 1.929 inches and a flute length of 0.945 inches. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating that provides moderate heat and corrosion resistance during cutting operations. The 118-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of common drilling applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is sized for light-duty precision work and is commonly used by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general trade technicians who need reliable small-diameter drilling capacity.
The C71220 is suited for residential and light commercial trade work where small-diameter hole-making is required. Typical applications include pilot holes, sheet metal work, conduit and bracket installation, and general fabrication tasks. The 2 mm diameter and jobber-length format make it practical for use in standard handheld drills, drill presses, and benchtop machines. The right-hand spiral flute geometry clears chips effectively during through-hole drilling in softer metals and non-metallic materials. This bit is sold individually and is well-suited for technicians who carry a small-diameter metric drill set on the job.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit in the Cleveland Series 2001G, sized to DIN 338 specification for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks up to 0.0787 inches in diameter.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill or drill press is fully powered down and the chuck is stationary. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed before starting the machine. At this small diameter, use appropriate drill press speed settings for the target material to avoid bit breakage. Eye protection is required during all drilling operations per standard shop safety practice.
