The CLEVELAND C71135 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in metal, wood, and plastics. Manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide finish for surface protection, it cuts at a standard 118-degree point angle with a regular spiral and a web-thinned, tapered web for improved chip clearance at the drill tip. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1100 inches in diameter, matching the bit diameter, and the overall length is 2.625 inches. Flute length is 1.5 inches. This is a right-hand cut bit in the Series 2001G, sold as a single unit and typically installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and HVAC or plumbing tradespeople needing precision pilot or clearance holes.
The C71135 corresponds to wire gauge size 35, with a decimal diameter of 0.1100 inches. It fits standard drill chucks used in benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and CNC or manual lathes where a straight-shank bit is required. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral make it well suited for through-holes and light-to-medium feed-rate drilling in mild steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. General-purpose grade, it meets ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, making it a reliable option for both shop and field drilling tasks.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1100-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including handheld drills, benchtop drill presses, and manual or CNC machining setups.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify the bit runs true before drilling. Power down or unplug the drill and clamp the workpiece firmly before bit changes. Use appropriate cutting fluid for harder metals to extend tool life and maintain hole tolerance. Dispose of worn bits properly as sharp edges remain on damaged tooling.
