The CLEVELAND C71121 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to wire gauge number 21, equal to 0.1590 inches in diameter. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers general-purpose performance across a wide range of drilling applications in metal, wood, and plastics. The 118-degree standard point geometry provides a self-starting tip that reduces walking on flat surfaces. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 2.125-inch spiral flute, the C71121 is proportioned for versatile reach in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment. A right-hand cut with a regular spiral and two flutes handles chip evacuation efficiently in most common materials.
This bit is suited for production shops, maintenance operations, and field work where a reliable general-purpose jobber bit is needed in the wire gauge range between 0.1500 and 0.2000 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1590 inches diameter accepts standard three-jaw chucks without modification. The web-thinned, tapered-web tip reduces thrust requirements and improves penetration in harder stock. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and general fabricators routinely use this bit size for tapping pilot holes and clearance drilling in light structural and sheet metal work.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck or collet accepting a 0.1590-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including handheld drills, benchtop drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify that chuck jaws are tightened evenly to prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace bits that show chipping or excessive wear. Follow shop safety protocols including eye protection and workpiece clamping at all times.
