The CLEVELAND C71095 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to Letter Y (0.4040 inches decimal), designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high speed steel with an oxide finish, the bit runs a standard 118-degree split-point geometry with web thinning for improved center penetration and reduced feed pressure. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.4040 inches in diameter and seats directly in standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 5.25 inches and a flute length of 3.875 inches, the C71095 fits jobber-length applications across production and maintenance environments. It is a common choice for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with general-purpose drilling tasks.
The C71095 is suited for general-purpose drilling in light-to-medium production settings, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication shops. The 2001G series targets applications where a reliable, cost-effective HSS bit handles everyday hole-making. The right-hand spiral flute with a regular helix provides consistent chip evacuation in most common workpiece materials. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, making it appropriate for standard drilling setups without internal coolant systems.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.4040-inch straight shank, compatible with bench drills, drill presses, and hand-held drills in typical shop and field applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard drill press or hand-drill equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down the machine completely before changing bits. Do not exceed the rated speed range for the workpiece material and bit diameter, and use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous metals to extend bit life.
