The CLEVELAND C71077 is a jobber-length twist drill bit sized to letter G (0.2610 inches decimal equivalent), designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastics. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers solid wear resistance in typical shop and field applications. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce thrust at entry and help maintain center on flat and curved surfaces. With an overall length of 4.125 inches and a flute length of 2.875 inches, the C71077 fits standard drill chucks and drill presses used by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and general mechanical trades.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in light-to-medium duty applications. The straight-cylindrical shank (0.2610 inches diameter) seats securely in keyless or keyed chucks without adapters. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during through-hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio, making it a practical choice for moderate-depth holes in structural steel, angle iron, pipe, and panel materials encountered in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical installation work. Sold individually.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or drill driver equipped with a chuck rated for a 0.2610-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
A licensed machinist or qualified trade professional should secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify chuck key removal before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Disconnect or lock out power to any drill press before changing bits in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout-tagout procedures. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the material being drilled and bit diameter.
