The CLEVELAND C71007 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating for heat and wear resistance, this bit features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web design that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation at entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1094 inches in diameter, matching the 7/64-inch (0.1094-inch) cutting diameter. With an overall length of 2.625 inches and a 1.5-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and is well-suited for bench drill presses, hand drills, and drill-press fixtures used in trade and light industrial settings.
This bit is built for general-purpose use in residential and light commercial applications. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and maintenance professionals commonly reach for jobber-length bits in this size range when drilling pilot holes, clearance holes, and cable or conduit pass-through points. The 7/64-inch diameter is a common pilot size for sheet metal screws and small fasteners. The 4xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral geometry support consistent chip clearing in shallow to moderate-depth holes.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks. Conforms to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 specifications, making it interchangeable with other drill bits of equivalent diameter and shank geometry per those standards.
Installation and use should follow standard machining and drilling safety practices. Secure the workpiece before drilling and ensure the chuck is tightened fully around the straight shank before operation. Verify that drill speed (RPM) is appropriate for the material being drilled, as excessive speed in hard materials accelerates tip wear. Wear appropriate eye protection whenever operating rotary cutting tools.
