The CLEVELAND C70347 is a No. 43 wire gauge screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed, high-volume drilling in tight spaces where a jobber-length bit is too long. Built from high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 0.0890 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches overall length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and cutting force at entry, making it well suited for production drilling on harder workpiece materials. The parallel web and web-thinned geometry help maintain chip clearance through the 0.75-inch flute length. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators typically reach for this bit in screw machine and CNC drilling operations.
The C70347 is sized for small-diameter work in alloy steel and aluminum, which are its rated primary workpiece materials. The screw machine length body fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. With a 1.0-inch straight-cylindrical shank at 0.0890 inches diameter and a right-hand spiral cut, it runs in conventional clockwise-rotating spindles. The short overall length provides added rigidity, reducing deflection in repetitive production runs or when drilling without a pilot hole. This bit conforms to ASME B94.11M and meets NAS 907 Type C specification requirements, making it appropriate for aerospace-adjacent and precision manufacturing environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-supply bit for screw machine and CNC drilling operations requiring a No. 43 wire gauge, straight-cylindrical shank drill bit in the Cleveland Series 2330 product line.
Install into a standard drill chuck or collet rated for a 0.0890-inch straight shank and confirm secure seating before operation. Run at spindle speeds appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter per standard machining feeds-and-speeds references. Avoid side-loading or flexing the bit during retraction, as small-diameter HSS bits are susceptible to breakage under lateral stress. Inspect the split point for chipping before each use, particularly in high-cycle production environments.
