The CLEVELAND C70346 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed steel cutting in tight, confined drilling applications. Built to a compact 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.75 inch flute length, this bit fits wire size No. 42 (0.0935 inches decimal) and carries a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts with minimal walking. The bright, uncoated finish and parallel web configuration suit it well for general-purpose production drilling. It meets ASME B94.11M and NAS 907 Type C standards, making it appropriate for shop environments with specification-driven quality requirements. Licensed trades and machinists working in screw machine or CNC drilling operations will find this bit suited to close-tolerance work.
This bit is intended for drilling into alloy steel and aluminum, common materials in production machining, fabrication shops, and maintenance environments. Its screw machine length profile, shorter than a jobber-length bit, reduces deflection and improves rigidity when drilling in drill press, turret lathe, or screw machine setups. The right-hand spiral flute and straight cylindrical shank allow direct chuck mounting without adapters. It is sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production-stock bit for screw machine, turret, and CNC drilling operations that require No. 42 wire size tooling in a straight cylindrical shank configuration.
Install into a standard drill chuck or collet rated for the 0.0935-inch straight cylindrical shank diameter. Ensure the workpiece and machine are properly secured and that the spindle is at rest before changing tooling. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling alloy steel. Inspect the cutting edges and split point for wear before each production run to maintain dimensional accuracy within the specified tolerance range.
