The CLEVELAND C70338 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and assembly applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this wire gauge size 34 bit measures 0.1110 inches in diameter and delivers a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts without a center punch. At 1-7/8 inches overall length, the shortened body provides added rigidity and reduced deflection compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for CNC screw machines, drill presses, and handheld drilling operations requiring tight tolerances.
This bit is intended for use in screw machine operations and general precision drilling in both shop and field environments. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steels and aluminum. The web-thinned, parallel-web design reduces thrust and heat buildup during cutting. The straight cylindrical shank, measuring 0.1110 inches in diameter and 1 inch in length, fits standard drill chucks across a wide range of production and manual drilling equipment. It is well suited for machinists, tool and die technicians, and production line maintenance professionals.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement drill bit for wire size 34 applications conforming to ASME B94.11M and NAS 907 Type C specifications. Fits standard straight-shank drill chucks used in screw machines, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press and CNC screw machine operation. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck tightness to prevent slippage. Always reduce spindle speed and use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hardened alloy steels to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
