The CLEVELAND C70334 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed steel cutting in tight-clearance and production drilling applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 30, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.1285 inches, with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires less feed force at entry. The short overall length of 1-15/16 inches makes it well suited for drill press fixtures, screw machines, and CNC setups where stub-length rigidity is required. The web-thinned, parallel-web construction improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust. This bit is manufactured to ASME B94.11M standards and meets NAS 907 Type C specification, confirming dimensional and performance compliance for aerospace and precision machining environments.
The C70334 is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where small-diameter, short-length drill bits are run in automatic screw machines, drill presses, or machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel and aluminum. The right-hand cut with a regular spiral and straight cylindrical shank makes it compatible with standard three-jaw chucks and collet-style toolholding. It is used by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and maintenance mechanics performing repetitive small-hole drilling in metal fabrication and aerospace component work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard production tooling for screw machine and short-length drill bit applications in alloy steel and aluminum. Straight cylindrical shank fits standard chucks and collet holders sized for 0.1285-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with small-diameter drill tooling. Ensure the spindle and workholding are fully secured before initiating the cut. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material, even though this bit does not feature through-coolant capability. Inspect the split point for wear or chipping before each production run, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage under misaligned or excessive feed conditions.
