The CLEVELAND C70313 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed, close-tolerance drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and cutting force on entry. The web-thinned, parallel web design improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust. At 2.25 inches overall length, the stubby screw machine profile delivers added rigidity over jobber-length bits, making it well suited for drill press and CNC drilling operations where runout control matters. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix handle chip clearing in the primary workpiece materials this bit targets.
This bit is sized at wire gauge number 9, corresponding to 0.1960 inches decimal diameter. It is intended for drilling alloy steels and aluminum in production machining, sheet metal work, and general metalworking environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks and collets without special toolholding. Its heavy-duty grade and NAS 907 Type C specification make it a common choice for aerospace-adjacent and precision manufacturing shops that require conformance to published dimensional standards. Machinists, tool and die workers, and CNC operators are the typical end users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use screw machine drill bit for standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.1960-inch straight-cylindrical shank, conforming to Series 2330 geometry and ASME B94.11M specifications.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or qualified trade professionals familiar with drill press, turret lathe, or CNC machining center setup. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before production drilling. Ensure the machine spindle is at a complete stop before changing or inspecting the bit. Follow applicable shop safety standards and wear appropriate eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
