The CLEVELAND C70260 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-production drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and general industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit measures 13/64 inches (0.2031 inches) in diameter with a 2-1/4 inch overall length. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact and lowers thrust force, making it well suited for drilling into alloy steels and aluminum without a center punch. The web-thinned, parallel web construction supports aggressive feed rates and cleaner hole entry. Two spiral flutes clear chips efficiently throughout the cut. This bit conforms to ASME B94.11M and NAS 907 Type C specifications.
The C70260 is intended for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills where a stub-length bit is preferred for rigidity and reduced deflection. The shorter overall length compared to jobber-length bits provides greater stability in tight setups and deeper fixtures. Primary workpiece materials include alloy steel and aluminum, making it a reliable choice for production shops, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians working on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use screw machine length drill bit suitable for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks on screw machines, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece compatibility includes alloy steel and aluminum as stated by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with proper drill press and machine tool operation. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling production parts. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing or inspecting bits. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material to avoid premature edge wear or bit breakage.
