The CLEVELAND C70253 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-cycle drilling in tight spaces where a shorter overall length improves rigidity and reduces deflection. Built from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this bit measures 3/32 inches (0.0938 inches) in diameter with a 1-3/4 inch overall length and a 3/4 inch flute length. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces the thrust needed to start a hole and resists walking on flat or curved surfaces without a center punch. At 0.1 pounds, it is a single-count bit sold in multiples of 12.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel, aluminum, and similar materials on the bench, drill press, or turret lathe. The screw machine length profile makes it a standard choice in production machining, metal fabrication shops, and maintenance environments where stub-length rigidity matters. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and carries NAS 907 Type C designation, making it appropriate for aerospace and precision manufacturing applications.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for any application requiring a 3/32 inch screw machine length drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank in standard drill chucks, turret lathes, and CNC drill heads. Primary workpiece materials listed by the manufacturer are alloy steel and aluminum.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators using standard drill chucks sized to accept a 0.0938 inch straight shank. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operating to prevent slippage and runout. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, particularly in production environments where cycle counts are high. Dispose of worn bits properly and do not attempt to regrind without appropriate tool grinding equipment.
