The CLEVELAND C70204 is a wire-gauge jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in metalworking and fabrication applications. Sized at wire gauge 71 with a decimal diameter of 0.0260 inches, it is manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating that aids in heat dissipation and wear resistance. The split-point tip at 135 degrees reduces walking on entry and eliminates the need for a center punch in most applications. With an overall length of 1.25 inches and a flute length of 0.375 inches, this bit is suited for close-tolerance, small-diameter drilling where accuracy is critical.
This drill bit is used in light industrial, maintenance, and precision manufacturing environments where small wire-gauge holes are required. Primary workpiece material is aluminum, though the M42 cobalt construction also handles other non-ferrous and soft ferrous metals. It features a straight cylindrical shank for use in standard drill chucks and drill presses. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in shallow-hole applications. This bit is sold individually and is well-suited for bench drill operations, CNC drilling fixtures, and hand drill use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0260-inch straight cylindrical shank. Rated for aluminum as the primary workpiece material per Series 2213 specification.
Installation and use of this drill bit is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or fabrication professionals using a drill press, hand drill, or CNC drilling fixture. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before drilling to prevent movement on contact. Coolant through is not supported on this bit, so use an appropriate cutting fluid applied externally when drilling harder materials. Inspect the bit for wear or chipping before each use, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage if run at incorrect speeds or feeds.
