The CLEVELAND C70198 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 65, with a decimal diameter of 0.0350 inches and an overall length of 1.5 inches. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit is rated for heavy-duty service in demanding drilling applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start a hole. Web thinning and a tapered web configuration improve chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. This bit conforms to NAS 907 Type J standards and is suited for precision work in tight-tolerance environments.
The C70198 is designed primarily for drilling aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, as well as plastics and similar materials where a sharp, fine-diameter bit is required. At wire size No. 65, this bit is commonly used in sheet metal work, electronic enclosure fabrication, light mechanical assembly, and precision pilot-hole applications. The regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it compatible with standard drill press and hand-held rotary tool setups. It is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 12 units per order.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and hand-held rotary tools accepting a 0.0350-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is aluminum per manufacturer specification.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a keyed or keyless chuck before use. At this diameter, spindle runout should be minimized to prevent bit deflection or breakage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling aluminum or metals to extend bit life. Replace the bit if tip geometry shows signs of wear, as a dull split point at this size increases the risk of workpiece damage and bit breakage.
