The CLEVELAND C70124 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers extended tool life when cutting through tough materials including aluminum, steel alloys, and similar workpieces. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements at the start of a cut. At 4.92 inches overall length with a 3.189-inch flute, the C70124 conforms to NAS 907 Type J standards and fits the Series 2213 jobber-length format. It is suited for machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians working with hand-held or machine-mounted drill applications.
This drill bit is primarily intended for drilling aluminum and ferrous metals in production and maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard 3-jaw drill chucks on benchtop drill presses, CNC drilling machines, and hand drills. The regular spiral flute geometry clears chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole operations. With a 0.3543-inch shank diameter, it seats securely in standard chuck configurations without special toolholding adapters. The heavy-duty grade designation makes it appropriate for repetitive production drilling where standard HSS bits wear prematurely.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks accepting a 0.3543-inch straight shank; part of the Cleveland Series 2213 jobber-length line conforming to NAS 907 Type J.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece with a vise or clamp before drilling. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and speed settings appropriate to the workpiece material.
