The CLEVELAND C70002 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal drilling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a gold oxide coating, this bit delivers heat resistance and edge retention beyond standard HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and decreases thrust, allowing the bit to self-center on contact. At 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.75 inch flute length, it is sized for compact access while maintaining rigidity at 3/64 inch diameter. Licensed trades and industrial technicians rely on this grade of bit when drilling harder alloys or working in high-cycle production environments.
The C70002 is suited for drilling aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and other materials where a heavy-duty cobalt grade bit is specified. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and quick-change systems without slipping under torque. The regular spiral flute evacuates chips efficiently, keeping the cutting edge clear during deep passes. Compliant with NAS 907 Type J specification, this bit is appropriate for aerospace-adjacent maintenance work, sheet metal fabrication, and precision mechanical installations where dimensional accuracy and drill life matter.
Designed as a heavy-duty replacement or working-stock drill bit for use with any standard drill chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in 3/64 inch diameter. Specified for aluminum as the primary workpiece material, and suitable for other non-ferrous and softer ferrous stock within the 0.0000 to 0.0500 inch size range covered by the Series 2213 family.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists, maintenance technicians, or trade professionals familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before powering the drill. Do not exceed the recommended speed range for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Eye protection and appropriate chip guards are required when operating any rotary drill bit.
