The CLEVELAND C57187 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metal workpieces. Built from high speed steel with a bright finish, it cuts an M10 x 1.25 metric fine thread to a 6H class of fit. The plug chamfer style provides a gradual lead-in that suits most standard through-hole applications. With a D5 thread limit, the tap holds close tolerances appropriate for precision threaded assemblies. The overall length is 2.9380 inches and the thread length is 1.2500 inches, giving machinists a compact, maneuverable tool for bench work and machine tapping alike. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tap.
This tap is suited for through-hole threading operations in alloy steel, carbon steel, and aluminum workpieces. The 3-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting edges, making it effective in through-hole configurations where chip evacuation is straightforward. The Series 1011 designation places it within a well-established production tap line. It is appropriate for manual tapping with a tap wrench or for use in CNC and manual drill press setups with a tapping chuck. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or brush-applied cutting fluid should be used for best tool life.
Designed for through-hole threading in alloy steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. Suitable for production or maintenance tapping operations requiring an M10 x 1.25 metric fine thread.
This tap should be installed and operated by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled hole before engagement. Apply appropriate cutting fluid throughout the operation to reduce heat and extend tool life. Do not force the tap against binding resistance; back off periodically to break and clear chips even in through-hole operations.
