The CLEVELAND C57067 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metal workpieces. It cuts an M3.5x0.6 metric coarse internal thread to a 6H class of fit, making it suitable for fastener holes that require standard metric tolerance. The tap is ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish and features two flutes with a D4 thread limit. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting zone, which keeps the flutes clear and reduces the chance of chip packing in through-hole applications. Overall length is 2 inches (50.80 mm) with a 3/8-inch thread length.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading in steel and non-ferrous metals, covering typical production and maintenance scenarios in manufacturing, machining, and general metalworking. The plug chamfer style means it requires a starter hole and is well suited for through-holes where the tap can exit the back of the workpiece. It runs right-hand thread and does not require coolant-through tooling, making it compatible with standard tapping attachments, CNC machines, or hand tap holders in a machine shop or field repair setting.
Designed for through-hole threading in steel and non-ferrous metals requiring an M3.5x0.6 metric coarse thread. Compatible with standard tap holders, tapping attachments, and CNC rigid-tapping setups that accept a 0.141-inch shank diameter.
This tap is installed by machinists and toolmakers using a tap handle, tapping attachment, or CNC machine with rigid-tapping capability. Always drill the correct tap drill diameter for M3.5x0.6 before threading to avoid overloading the tap. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material throughout the tapping operation. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use, as a damaged cutting edge can cause thread quality issues or tap breakage.
