The CLEVELAND C57011 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in metal workpieces. It cuts a 0-80 UNF thread with 2 flutes and a plug chamfer, making it well suited for starting taps in pre-drilled holes and driving chips ahead of the cutting edge during the pass. The tap is manufactured from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish and carries an H2 thread limit for close tolerance work. Overall length is 1.688 inches with a thread length of 0.310 inches. This tap is used by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians working with small-diameter fastener threads in production or repair settings.
The C57011 is rated for threading in alloy steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. The plug chamfer configuration requires a pre-existing through-hole and is the standard choice for production through-hole tapping where chip ejection forward is acceptable. The 2B class of fit delivers a standard commercial thread tolerance, pairing with 2A externally threaded fasteners. With a shank diameter of 0.141 inches and a square drive size of 2.79 mm, it is sized for use in standard tap handles or tapping chucks appropriate for 0-series taps.

Machinist or toolroom personnel should ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before tapping. The pre-drilled hole must be sized to the correct tap drill diameter for a 0-80 UNF thread before the tap is engaged. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tap life. Never reverse a spiral point tap under power without confirming the drive setup supports it, as breakage in small-diameter taps is common when back-torque is applied abruptly.
