The CLEVELAND C54934 is a 1-14 UNS straight-flute hand tap designed for cutting internal threads in a wide range of metallic materials. Built from bright, uncoated high speed steel, it delivers consistent thread cutting performance without the added cost of a coating. The plug chamfer — typically 3 to 5 threads — makes it well suited for both through-hole and blind hole applications. It carries a 3B class of fit with an H4 thread limit, providing the tolerance control required for precision threaded assemblies. Overall length is 5.125 inches with a thread length of 2.5 inches. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance trades use this tap for repair and production threading operations.
This tap is rated for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel. The 4-flute straight-flute geometry supports chip evacuation in a range of cutting conditions and works for standard through-hole and blind hole threading scenarios. It is part of the Cleveland Series 1002 tap line, which covers standard UNS and unified thread form applications commonly encountered in industrial and maintenance machining environments. Hand taps should be installed using a properly sized tap wrench matched to the square drive dimensions. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before beginning the tapping operation.
