The CLEVELAND C54907 is an M24x3.00 taper hand tap designed for right-hand threading in both blind and through-hole applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, this 4-flute straight flute tap cuts metric coarse threads to a 6H class of fit and D8 thread limit. It measures 4.906 inches overall length with a 2.22-inch thread length. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians use this tap when hand-threading larger diameter metric fastener holes in production or repair environments where precise thread form and fit are critical.
This tap is suited for threading M24x3.00 metric coarse holes in a range of materials including alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel. The taper chamfer style makes it well suited for starting threads in both through-holes and blind holes where a gradual lead-in is preferred. It is a Series 1001 tap intended for hand tapping operations where controlled torque and alignment are maintained by the operator.
Designed for hand tapping M24x3.00 metric coarse threads in blind and through-hole configurations across alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel workpieces.
This tap is intended for hand tapping operations performed by a machinist or skilled tradesperson using a tap wrench with proper alignment. Power down and de-energize any associated equipment before performing threading operations on installed components. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce friction and extend tap life. Do not force the tap if resistance is felt — back off to clear chips and prevent breakage.
