The CLEVELAND C54815 is a bottoming-chamfer hand tap designed for cutting 11/16-11 UNC threads in both blind and through-hole applications. Made from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this right-hand tap features a 4-flute straight-flute geometry that provides chip clearance and thread-cutting stability. The overall length is 4.031 inches, with a 1.09-inch thread length and a 0.542-inch shank diameter. It is rated to a H3 thread limit and produces a Class 2B fit. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance techs use this tap for hand-tapping operations on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
The C54815 is suited for production and maintenance threading tasks in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and field repair environments. It handles blind-hole threading where a bottoming chamfer is required to cut threads close to the bottom of a hole. Compatible material applications include alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and free-machining stainless steel. It belongs to CLEVELAND Series 1003 and is packaged and sold individually.
Designed for hand-tapping 11/16-11 UNC threads in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and free-machining stainless steel workpieces, in both blind-hole and through-hole configurations.
This tap is intended for hand-tapping operations using a standard tap wrench or T-handle. Always ensure the hole is drilled to the correct tap-drill diameter for an 11/16-11 UNC thread before starting. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to improve thread quality and tap life. Keep the tap aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface to avoid tap breakage, especially when threading blind holes.
