The CLEVELAND C54327 is a straight-flute hand tap designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in both blind and through-hole applications. Made from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tap runs in a right-hand direction and carries an H3 thread limit for consistent dimensional control. The plug chamfer — typically 3 to 5 lead threads — provides a balanced entry that suits both production and repair threading work. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a 0.500-inch thread length, the C54327 is sized for standard #10 fastener applications across a wide range of materials.
This tap is suited for machine shops, maintenance facilities, and field repair environments where 10-24 UNC threads are required. Its 3-flute straight-flute geometry works in both blind holes and through holes, making it a general-purpose choice for machinists and technicians threading alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel. The bright finish is compatible with standard cutting fluids and tapping compounds.
Designed for cutting 10-24 UNC internal threads in alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel in both blind-hole and through-hole configurations. Part of Cleveland Series 1002.
Install and drive using a standard tap wrench or tapping fixture appropriate for the shank diameter. Always apply a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound matched to the workpiece material before starting the thread. Back the tap out periodically to break chips and prevent binding, especially in blind holes. Follow all applicable shop safety practices and secure the workpiece firmly before tapping.
