The CLEVELAND C54323 is a 10-24 UNC bottoming hand tap ground from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish. It is a 4-flute straight flute design with a right-hand thread direction, a Class 2B fit, and an H2 thread limit. The overall length is 2.375 inches with a thread length of 0.5 inches. Bottoming taps carry a minimal chamfer, allowing threads to be cut to the full depth of a blind hole. Machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians use this tap when a through-hole tap or plug tap cannot reach the required thread depth.
The C54323 is suited for manual tapping operations in blind holes and through-holes alike. It is rated for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and free-machining stainless steel. Its 10-24 UNC thread profile is a common fastener standard across general industrial fabrication, HVAC equipment assembly, electrical enclosures, and light structural work. The straight flute geometry works best in shorter-chipping materials where chip evacuation is not a primary concern.
Designed for manual hand tapping applications in alloy steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and free-machining stainless steel workpieces requiring a 10-24 UNC thread profile.
This tap is intended for use with a standard tap wrench or T-handle; power driving is not recommended for hand taps. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the work material before tapping. Back the tap off periodically to break chips and prevent tap binding or breakage. Secure the workpiece before tapping and ensure the tap enters the hole perpendicular to the surface.
