The CLEVELAND C52182 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tools cannot match. The 0.5-inch diameter cutter features four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle, producing efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 1-inch length of cut and 4.5-inch overall length, this regular-length tool fits standard milling setups without extended-reach considerations. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments will find this tool suited to ferrous and exotic alloy work.
The C52182 is rated for primary use in high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. The double-end design provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life value in high-volume operations. The straight-cylindrical shank includes a Weldon flat for positive drive in set-screw holders, making it compatible with standard end mill holders and collet chucks found on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual Bridgeport-style machines. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow conventional milling configurations.
Part of the Cleveland HDC-4C series. Rated for high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpiece materials. Fits any 0.5-inch end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder with a 0.5-inch bore.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the holder and torque the set screw according to the holder manufacturer specification to prevent pullout during heavy cuts. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating when tight tolerances are required.
