The CLEVELAND C52167 is a cobalt double-end square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The tool features a 0.75 inch mill diameter, a 1.3125 inch length of cut, and a 5.625 inch overall length. Its 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The double-end configuration provides two usable cutting ends, extending tool life between changeovers. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tool.
The C52167 is suited for milling operations on high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpieces in both job shop and production environments. The centercutting geometry allows for direct plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. The straight cylindrical shank with Weldon flat accommodates standard end mill holders and set-screw-style tool holders common on vertical machining centers and knee mills. This tool belongs to the HDC-2 series, which is optimized for heavy-duty cutting in difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-flat set-screw holders with a 0.75 inch bore. Recommended for machining high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, and steel workpieces as noted by Primary Workpiece Material Codes M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing the tool. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the tool holder to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and consult the machine manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for cobalt tooling in the specific workpiece material.
