The CLEVELAND C46443 is a 3-flute interchangeable pilot counterbore designed for precise spot-facing and counterboring operations in metal fabrication and machining. The body measures 7/8 inch in diameter with a 3/4 inch straight shank and an overall length of 5.375 inches. The cutting end accepts a 1/4 inch pilot shank for guided, concentric entry into pre-drilled holes. Constructed from high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this tool delivers solid performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard drill press and milling machine setups common in machine shops and maintenance environments.
This counterbore is suited for production and maintenance machining work where a clean, flat-bottomed recess is required to seat fastener heads flush or below a workpiece surface. It handles alloy tool steel, aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. The interchangeable pilot design allows the same body to be used with different pilot diameters, reducing tooling inventory. Typical applications include aerospace component work, general fabrication, and industrial maintenance where repeatable counterbore depth and concentricity are required.
Designed for use with 1/4 inch interchangeable pilot shanks. Compatible materials include alloy tool steel, aluminum, cast iron, low-carbon steel, and medium-carbon steel. Confirm pilot shank diameter matches the pre-drilled hole before use.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die technicians using standard drill presses, milling machines, or CNC equipment with appropriate chucking. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck to the marked depth before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing pilots or inspecting cutting edges. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed ratings for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
