The CLEVELAND C41622 is a 2-flute, square-end, high speed steel end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in machine shop and production environments. With a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/8-inch length of cut, and a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank with Weldon flat, this tool mounts securely in standard end mill holders and collet chucks. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting capability allows both plunge and conventional milling operations. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this end mill in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and knee mills.
The C41622 is suited for milling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel in both job shop and production settings. Its regular-length profile and Series HG-2 geometry make it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes where a general-purpose uncoated HSS tool is appropriate. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation. It is sold individually and is well-suited for low-to-moderate cutting speed applications where tool regrinding is part of the workflow.
Designed for use in standard 1/2-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style holders on vertical milling machines, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and steel.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine powered down or in an e-stop state. Torque the set screw against the Weldon flat per the tool holder manufacturer specification to prevent axial pullout under load. Verify runout after seating the tool; excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish. Tool grinding and reconditioning should be performed by a qualified tool grinder following established HSS end mill geometry standards.
